This project analyzes the iconic memeification of the Girl Defined YouTube channel through the lens of rhetorical theory.
This paper analyzes the rhetorical strategies of the YouTube channel Girl Defined and the subsequent online backlash. Girl Defined, a channel promoting conservative Christian values, uses pathos and ethos to persuade its audience. However, its content has been heavily criticized and parodied online, leading to a significant decline in credibility. The paper examines how the channel's rhetoric has been undermined through satire and critical analysis, highlighting the power of social media to shape public discourse and influence online reputation.
By analyzing the rhetorical strategies of the Girl Defined YouTube channel and its subsequent online backlash, I gained a deeper understanding of the power of social media to shape public discourse and influence online reputation.
I learned how rhetorical appeals, such as pathos and ethos, can be used to persuade audiences and how these appeals can be challenged and undermined through satire and critical analysis. Additionally, I explored the complex relationship between online communities, celebrity culture, and the impact of digital media on shaping cultural norms and values.
